Michele’s dance background includes training in many forms of dance including classical ballet, jazz, tap, modern, Latin dance, African, Hip-hop, and Contemporary Lyrical. She has a Master’s Degree in education, and has been teaching jazz for over 15 years. Her jazz choreography has been described as an athletic mixture of contemporary styles with a technical jazz base.
She has had the opportunity to study and take master classes with such jazz legends as Luigi, Joe Tremaine, Doug Caldwell, Ronnie Demarco, Frank Hatchett, and Ginny East Hendry. Michele has performed with Ballet Eddy Touissant in “Requiem” and a dance piece that Eddy Touissant set on the West Coast Dance Project. She danced in a modern jazz piece that David Storey choreographed for the West Coast Dance Project. She has performed in numerous shows in the Tampa Bay area, as a soloist and in group projects with such groups as the American International Ballroom Company.
Michele has been hired to choreograph shows for college theatre companies, industrial shows, Scary Saturday Night Out at the Manatee Civic Center, and most recently, for Sarasota Baptist Church “Christmas Around the World” She has also choreographed numerous shows that have been performed at Disneyworld with her own West Coast Civic Jazz Company, and set dances on the West Coast Civic Ballet as well as performing with them in shows.
She was also the director/choreographer for the En Croix Dance Crew, and the DRDancers. Her students have received numerous Double Platinum, Platinum, and Gold awards as well as scholarships in many dance competitions. Some of her former jazz students have gone on to become professional dancers in the New York City Ballet, Sarasota Ballet, Buccaneer Swashbucklers, and at Busch Gardens. Michele enjoys sharing a love of all forms of dance and strives to challenge and encourage her students to be well-rounded.
